Did you know that one of three people fail these exams. Most of the time it's
because they weren't prepared. The questions on the test are geared toward
an industry standard and the answers were not what they expected. The
good news is it's mostly common sense and most people fail by only a few
questions. Amazing! If you can improve your score by only a few questions
then you pass. We suggest you study. These free ASE study guides will help
you on your path to success.

Please read through the Study Tips section and feel free to look around the
web site as it is free and filled with information on the upcoming ASE tests.
This site is constantly being updated so expect to see more sample questions
and information regarding automotive testing and repair. The navigation bar
to the left is linked to each of the ASE study guides and free sample tests
    located on the website.

Online registration began June 1 and is the easiest way to register for
the November exams. They sent e-mails out to everyone on there list the
other day. The tests will be November 13, 18, and 20 depending on what test
and whether it's a recert or not.

ASE suggests that you not take more than 225 questions per session.
A session is one night of exams lasting four hours. The fees are $32 to
register and $27 for regular tests and the advanced tests cost $54 each.

Bring two number two pencils with a good eraser just in case. Click
here for the online registration link. I usually try to get there early because it
takes time to park and locate the room the test will be given in.
Their Customer service number is 703-669-6600 and their toll-free
information line is 1-888-273-8378 (1-888-ASE-TEST). Good Luck!

ASE Online Pencil/Paper Test Registration

Computer-based testing is gaining popularity in part due to its
convenience.  These tests are timed between 1/2 and 2 hours depending
upon the test you take. They cover all eight tests from A1 to A8 and
registration begins Janurary 9 and ends February 16th. The testing dates are
    January 16 through February 23rd.

The only real downside we see is the time limit. If you are the kind of test
taker who likes to take their time then this probably isn't for you.

These tests are given in a proctored setting usually located at a
community college. They have over 200 locations and registration fees are
$70 with regular tests running $37 each and the advanced level tests L1 and
L2 $74 each, with multiple recertification's not to exceed $165.
